The Smarvo Amp. Good value for money?

Hi all, from what i do know about the smarvos, is that they are marshall copies, and their clean channel sounds damn good, thought the od-channel is lacking. also, they can be connected to a footswitch for easier channel changing. I might be getting a smarvo 2x10" 40W amp, so i was wondering if there are any better brands/models for that sorta price range (around 300?), and if there are any players here who use it(or similar) could u share some thoughts about the brand as a whole, and the model u use? Thanks in advance.

p.s. correct me if im wrong, please.

the solid state Smarvos are good value for money, the tone's rather impressive IMO. i've not come across a 2X10" model, the one i tried was 12" driver equipped. 12" speakers give you better bass for overdrive.

Smarvo

I tried both amps but in the end decided to get the line 6 copy cos the cleans are so much sweeter. Also I found that in the marshall copy the sound is distorted when it gets too loud, but not in the line 6 copy as there is somewhat a compression kinda feel to it.

My money is with the line 6 copy.

FYI only

i think that the only thing they are trying to copy marshall is in the design

lol, don't quite care about the looks. im mainly concerned with the sound. currently, i play thru this Peavey kba20, and im real miffed with the wierd crap that comes out of it sometimes. so ive resolved to getting a proper guitar amp that actually sounds good.

subversion :: thanks for the info.

btw, anyone owned one for years? any idea if the brand actually lasts a reasonable amount of time (i.e. a few years, bedroom playing)

i don think anyone owned it for years, cos this brand only jus came out recently. But this amp may not have a good resale value as it is not "branded". My friend owned a 40watt smarvo for about 5 months plus and its still working.

Other options to consider in the $300 range is the VOx Ad30Vt, which retails for $330 at citymusic. A pretty decent amp and may have a better resale value.

You could just go to peninsular and try it out... it's cleans are decent, but distortion not for me.

Pier.

er, peninsula? i thought the amps were carried by ranking sports in bras besah? and some other shop in balastier. in any case, i'll be making that trip down this weekend prolly :D thanks for e replies ^^
