Dear all,
We have a new course specially dedicated to the Science of Singing. Beginning September 3rd 2005 and running for 5 Saturdays from 4pm to 6pm, The Science of Singing is a very intensive hands-on course which teaches fundamental singing technique and how to take care of the voice properly in the process. It is more of a "how-to-perform it-correctly" course, rather than a "children-what-shall-we-sing-today" course.
We call it "The Science of Singing" because of its focus of learning – ie. participants will be introduced to the science and technical aspects of learning to sing correctly and effectively…which ultimately will lead to a beautifully controlled singing sound from within.
As is our practice, the course will be specially tailored to your needs, wants and familiarity with singing, with help from your individual feedback prior to the class itself. As such, the course is ideal both for singing veterans and greenhorns alike!
Among the skills and techniques taught in this course will be:
(1)Anatomy for Breathing and Singing
Learn to "sing from the diaphragm" - the cliche that is seldom explained - fully, clearly, and with concrete explanation.
(2)Exercises to build muscles for breathing and singing
(3) Application of Alexander's Technique in Singing
(4) Correct tone production and voice placement
(5) Vocal Resonance, Projection and Power
(6) Understanding and Negotiating Vocal Registers
(7) Correct speech technique for vocal health
Singing is a very physical activity and this course thus requires participants to do physical exercises, lie on the studio floor, etc, so appropriate attire is requested (no skirts, no high heels, no thick and tight clothing like jeans, and possibly no low neck lines for modesty in some exercises) - dance attire is good, being loose and
comfortable.
As the 5 lessons are inter-connected, participants MUST start from the first session and not come into the course in the middle of it. If they miss any session, they will not have the required technical knowledge to enjoy the following session and will have to do the next course)
It is also essential that participants bring writing material to take notes – for maximum benefit.
This is a 10-hour course and the enrolment / class size has to be kept to a maximum of 8 for maximum benefit of all.
However, the Management reserves the sole right to cancel or postpone this class if there are insufficient participants 1 week prior to commencement.
For more information on the instructor, course fees and how to enjoy the Early Bird discount of 15%, please email chinesewallflowerATgmailDOTcom.
We look forward to helping you unravel the mysteries of the Science of Singing!
