THE PINHOLES
Incendiary drum and guitar work married with raspy vocals. This best sums up the music of the Pinholes, a four-piece band from the West.....of Singapore. Although rock 'n' roll is the order of the day for the quintet, they can belt out a soulful ballad or two when the occasion demands it, and they do it with consummate ease too. Shaped by the music of renowned international acts like Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys and inspired by the success of local and regional bands such as The Quests, Force Vomit, Alleycats and Stoned Revivals, the Pinholes have made a splash in the local music industry since their formation three years ago. Fronted by effervescent lead vocalist,Famie Suliman (guitar/vocals) and Rahmat 'Mojo' Suliman (guitar/vocals) then anchored by the rowdily rollicking crew of Haikal Mohd (bass/vocals) and Azril Bin Ahmad (percussion), the Pinholes' strength not only resonates from their music, but their showmanship as well. Always eager to work the crowd, their frenzied head bobs and wild gyrations, although not quite Elvis-esque, synergises well with their hard rockin' and playful, psychedelic tunes. If there is a song that best epitomises the ethos of the group, then their single Shake and Bake will be the one to lend a listening ear to. Already a cult hit with their fans, Shake and Bake is easily identifiable when the duo starts off with these words "If you want it, come and shake it, if it pleases you..." This cheeky, catchy single is now a mainstay of the band's concerts and a Pinholes performance will not be complete without it. And where would Pinholes be without the events which helped propel them into public consciousness? Notable performances at the 2005 and 2006 Baybeats, 2006 Sembawang Fest and guest appearances on. Suria, Mediacorp TV and 98.7 FM radio shows have paved the way for the fame they current bask in.
