It’s in times of restlessness that we find ourselves venturing into uncharted territories to regain our zest for life. Hailing from the city of Liuzhou in China’s Guangxi region, The Life Journey is an urban-folk band that can help align direction in our aimless wanderings. Their eclectic but easy-listening musical journey encompasses Brit-pop, blues and Bossa Nova, cemented with a dash of nostalgia and indie-rock spirit.
Winning praise from critics and fans, their 2008 self-titled debut album allows us to experience the wonders of desert plains, rice fields, ancient castles and Rome through different songs. As they are abashedly in love with the music of The Beatles, they have recorded a fresh and sprightly track, Central Park, as a tribute to their idol, John Lennon. One of the biggest strengths of the band is the tenderness you’ll find lurking within their songs – like on Panda, Take Me Away, Waiting to Dine with You (the title track of their 2009 EP) and their 2010 new single, Marry. It’s no wonder that listeners get intoxicated by The Life Journey’s romantic musings that evoke visions of France.
