tension problem

Hi guys,

I'm not very good with guitar set up, and I can't seem to find a solution off the net - (or I cant' phrase a question well)

I just got a guitar and as I compared it to my strat I find the string tension particularly higher - meaning to say before 7th fret it requires substantial energy to do a decent bend.

Just wondering if this is adjustable or not?
