Technical Help for Pickup

Hi all,

Recently, I have encountered some issues with my pickup. I am using a Fender HSS American series strat, bridge and mid pups are stock, while the neck has been swapped out before. Bridge is the Fender Diamondback, mid is the tex mex, while the neck is the american standard neck pup (it was a tex mex, but it became faulty, so I replaced it with a am std neck pup). Oh, btw, my strat comes with the S1 switch.

My was changing my guitar strings, and I thought that I could try to polish my frets. I admit that I didnt do a good job of taping my pups (especially the neck pup) and some bits and pieces of fine metal got stuck to the poles of the pups. I tried to remove it by hand and also with an aid of another piece of magnet. After putting in the new strings, a few problems immediately arose.

In the 2nd and 4th position of the pup selector, the output is drastically reduced, even though the mid and bridge positions alone are working perfectly fine. For the nect position, ADGBe strings have normal output, but the low E string has drastically reduced output. When I engaged the S1, the outputs of 1,2,3,4 are reduced. I also noticed a perculiarity: when I depressed the S1 halfway (meaning I did not depress it fully), the output in the 2nd and 4th position return to normal again, wtf??!! I did a screw driver test of the pickups and found that the selector should be working fine, so I narrow the problem to the S1 switch and the pups. I also noticed that the low E pole piece of the nect pup had lost it magnetism (wth!!!), while the other 5 pole pieces are ok.

Can anybody advise what the hell is going on here?
