Taylor vs Blueridge acoustics (HELP!)

Hi guys. I need advice regarding which acoustic is best to purchase. Taylor 410 vs Blueridge br160. Anyone can give some advice??

Right off the bat I'd say Blueridge offers better value for money than Taylor, but it depends on what you're looking for as they're different guitars. The Blueridge is a warmer sounding, more vintage oriented guitar whereas the Taylor is a modern, contemporary acoustic guitar with a brighter voicing. Try them both out and decide from there.

Personally, I'd go for the Blueridge because it's traditional tone and appearance appeals more to me than the Taylor 410.

Thanks for the advice. The thing bout blueridge is that it doesn't have resale value but the taylor has. I'm stuck! Is there any online site that I may be able to ship in a blueridge?

Blueridges do have resale value. They're quite a well known brand. But not as well-known as Taylor, so the value as they age does not appreciate as quickly as a Taylor does. Blueridges are popular in the US mainly among those who already own Martin guitars, or those who want a more affordable alternative to Martin guitars (as Martin guitars are priced around the same as Taylor guitars, perhaps more so for some models).

Problem with ordering online is that you can't try the guitar out first. I think trying a guitar (or several guitars) before buying is very important because you'll be sure that you chose the guitar that is right for you. You can also try several guitars of the same model, if the one you pick turns out to have some flaws in construction. Which is why I'll always buy from a good guitar shop or from a seller here on Soft.

Maestro outlets have quite a wide range of Blueridge acoustics. Do check 'em out, try some models.

Also, Sinamex brings in Taylor, so you can also try some Taylors there.

There's a Maestro outlet in Parklane Shopping Centre, and Sinamex is also located there. So it's really quite convenient to try some Blueridges and Taylors out, and make an informed decision. Cheers!

Hmm i prefer the Taylor, great feel and sound. I like Taylors in general over Martins.
So Blueridge and Martin and similar voicings and tone?

Yeah, pretty similar. Even down the appearance... They really look like Martins. :)

I really love Taylor playability and tone, though, but I find them pricey.

I've actually tried both the blueridge at maestro and a taylor 410. Both have their strengths I must admit. I'm leaning more to the blueridge for it's vintage tones. I've owned a Taylor 412 before too. No doubt both the blue and Taylor guitars will mature.

Im more concerned now bout will the blueridge be able to last as long as taylor do considering the fact they are made in china?

So if both the Taylor and the blueridge are about the same price, you'll rather pick the Taylor?

Depends on the QC. And of course, every guitar differs piece by piece. Even Taylors may have defects, and if you are not careful you might buy the wrong piee. Citymusic's house brand Craftsman is also MIC but you will hear a lot of good things about it.

If they were priced the same... I don't know to be honest. It's a tough call but I still prefer the Blueridge. I don't mind sacrificing a bit of playability if I can get the sound I want at an affordable price. Priced the way they are now, I'd hands-down go for the Blueridge, but due to the fact that it is made in China, I would inspect the build quality more thoroughly.
