sustain pedal ~ this is weird

i bought a new sustain pedal fc5 from luthermusic today. then when i try it on my yamaha ez20 keyboard, it has sustain sound when i release the pedal. but when i step on it, the sustain is gone. is it supposed to be like that ?

maybe there's something on the keyboard that you can set? It is called the polarity. Usually, you find it under "Switch" and you can choose (+) or (-).

perhaps you could check your keyboard manual to see what kinda sustainer it needs. seems that it requires 1 that is opposite to what you have.

if there's no switch as soft has said....then you could rewired the pedal/keyboard. However, it might not be easy as switching wires, cause i would think that it works on detecting a closed/open circuit. And if you switch the wires around, it wouldn't change anything.

there's switch on pedal to change that, or check input is called sustain switch or expression pedal.
