i did something like that for my school project last year, except i was studying lyrics of the songs... what i found was pop did not really have adverse effects... it was the punk... hmmm... punk, so contreversial, as always

har pop culture = dangerous?

you're thinking sub cultures there man

anyhow... not a good place to conduct research for a school project. more music talk pls.

A society steeped in economics alone is not a fully developed nation for the heart of any country rich or poor lies within it's culture.

The Japanese have a saying;

"An olympic sized swimming pool labourously maintained daily by man scrubbed clean, filled and filtered with chlorinated water is pretty, inviting and lifeless but a pond existing within nature without intervention from man with it's soil, mud, assorted vegetation and it's murky waters thrives with an abundance of life."

I think Singapore is very much like a nice clean swimming pool.

pop culture has always existed and will always exist.

i dont think that that is detrimental to society. in fact i think its essential. x/

(learning abt popculture in school now grah)

Everyone needs something to depend on. You can't expect everyone to like bands like napalm death and so on....We are all different in our own way and that makes us all special.

Pop culture encompasses so many things.

If Singlish was a viable industry in itself like the African-American street culture (ala hip-hop, breaking, turntablism) - a few-billions-a-year industry unto itself, you can bet your ass that loads of money would be spent on promoting our very own pop culture - Singlish.

Dun say you are ashamed of it. Cuz I dun see the brothers from the 'hood ever sayin' that they are ashamed of their culture.

why napalm death?

Anyone wants to see Metal culture flourish in SIngapore? and everyone adopt a metal image? dun be shy, who likes that to happen?

Yeah yeah, let metal flourish and everyone be talking bout metale, eat breath sleep metale! Those under the ground real fans, analog type, speed 1 to 3 will say metale shud not be like this like that and look down on casual fans, digital type, speed 4 to 7.

let popularity kill everything else except mandopop! Rong rive Jolin tsai, rong rive jay chou, and finally, rong rive YAO SU RONG!

I think because napalm death is death metal. I think Death metal is not really a very accessible type of music.
