3b) I have not heard of any good bands besides the ones on Live N' Loaded and most of them make music that don't quite match my taste.

10)The music scene in Singapore compared to the in the States and elsewhere is not appealing at all.Unlike bands in the States,local bands don't publicize themselves enough and are not daring enough to put themselves on display.If one didn't look @ S.O.F.T's Gigs and Concerts Forum,one wouldn't even have known that Singapore actually has BANDS.
What we can do is try and groom local bands to be more aspiring and give them motivation to succeed in the music industry.One main reason why Singapore has not succeeded in the music industry is because the average working class person knows that "music" will not bring him far in life.Singapore has to stop this mentality if we want our local bands to succeed.To show support for local acts,we must be willing to support them financially - buy their albums,go for their gigs.That's when people will finally start saying "I want to be a successful band because if I make it,I'll have cash flowing into my pockets." and local bands will start working harder to actually make it big.

Rock, metal, etc. Basically heavy stuff.

Nope. Lack of availability of the music. Also, I'm not very familiar with local bands.

The music scene is present, just not very exposed to the public. Probably by promoting the music, through gigs, adverts, radio, etc. The talent is there, the opportunities for the musicians and the exposure of the scene just need to be improved.

Ans: In general, it is more of alternative but if u say the younger generation (teens), its more of mainstream, pop, r&b, techno.

Ans: Not really.

To me, the music scene is more of underground, not really exposed to the public much. Our country is not really like US, where the crowd in gigs are very big and there are wide genre of music. What u all can do is to promote the bands, be it tv, radio, internet, banner etc. but most importantly someone/some recording company has to sponsor them $$$ or else this idea would not really work much..

Cheap Emo Rock/Metal/ wannabes.

Guiness Theatre/Substation/All About Eve (Haji Lane)/Marquee/Indoor Stadium/YMS

6) What kinds of gigs do you look forward to?
Metal Shows in General / Unplugged / Rock Shows.

7) What kinds of bands do you want to see performing in gigs?
Iron Maiden / Spiritual Beggars / Bands with more showmanship and theatrical acts like PSYCHO!

8) How much are you willing to pay to watch a gig?
Depends on the act, I'd pay above SGD$100 if the act is good.

9) What are your purpose of watching a gig?
a) Support friends performing
b) Support local bands performing
c) Support the genre of the bands performing

Make bands go through audition and english classes; to improve performanceship and stage ethics. Teach them humility through criticism. To hell with wannabes. \m/

Hi there Music Lovers...


1) Pop rock, alternative rock, indie rock, pop punk, punk rock, acoustic.

2) I'm not really sure but I think that everyone music genre have their unique-ness...

3) I do listen to local bands but mostly from America. From Singapore, plain sunset is awesome.

4) Nope.

10) Local music scene is awesome. They are a few bands who are really talented and they are really good in music. Sometimes I prefer local music scene because they are not too hectic or havoc. Also, some ways that local music scene can be improved are for "hidden talent" to be discovered.

Probably bands should set high QC for their materials and produce better music. And also should try harder to get the music out to people and not really the other way round. If theres good music available to them people will listen to it.

-I think that it's great that there are alot of bands forming nowadays.
We can improve by maybe making a showcase gig that can introduce new bands in the scene that's FOC.

How to improve i dont know. How to support local bands by giving them chances to perform(without paying, cause many bands refuse to play pay to perform shows). And give them more exposure. Maybe record labels can bring them overseas to create awareness.

yes, bands from Dear Who Am I, Summer's Over, Tacit Aria, Baricade, Raufi Heights, Framework Tragedy and also my band, Melting Ice!.

Yes and also depends on my wallet inside! haha

places that is accessible to go and come back home. town area there.

based on my genre at Q1

mostly at Q3 but depends on the gig line up and eventhough some bands are new, tightness must be there to present on stage!

a) - its cheap and from there, we can bring more people, cause typical singaporean go for cheap stuff and usually people only bring 20bucks when they go out..haha. bands that needed to sell tix also easy.

and also gain the exprience from the bands who is performing, learn from what they do and how they present on stage.

so far ok to me only the 'must sell tix' thing. haha.. but my band still continue sell tix as we wanna self promote the gig.
