superstrat project consideration plans

Im using a custom strat.

MIJ Squire japan Body,

Allparts rock hard maple neck ( 22 frets )

Gotoh tuners,

Original fender bridge, Graphtech saddles

HSS config with 2 single coil emgs and an 85 at the humbucker area.

Original zinc tremolo block changed to steel block for added sustain

Fender decal ordered from fender, backplate also ordered from fender.

:D

Well depends. Considering you're able to select the individual parts, you can and probably will select higher quality parts than what a factory might use in a mass-produced model.

And of course, being a DIY, the main advantage is that it's a true custom model. You can build it to the exact specifications you want.

haha, i can tell you in advance, it wont sound good enough to justify the price tag. TS is using a SX body which still has to be routed, new bridge and pickups, could easily reach 1k to do so, so is it still economical? think.

firstly the routing is gonna cost u more or as much as the body i think.

Frankly speaking floyd rose routes if not setup properly will cause ALOT of tuning problems in teh future.

If u want a floyd that bad go get an 80s strat body with floyd already installed or jus settle for an ibanez body. seriously.

this job is gonna cost you my friend. be prepared to spend./\

TS firstly youve got to understand that many finished projects are good looking, gorgeous etc..

However the process isnt a bed of roses. Expect setbacks and screwups if youre gonna plough ur way thru without the aid of someone experienced. This thing is not only gonna cost you money and time but there will be many occasions where u get pissed off after being able to be so close to ur goal u falter.

Do note the necessary materials already cost you $$. To be able to utilize them is a different matter.

If you do however manage to surprise us all i will first and foremost salute then congratulate you.

If i were you i would follow the advice of the others and buy a superstrat off hand though i have to admit the learning process though painful is still full of fun.

Make a good choice. All the best.

Haha okay, point noted. In TS' particular case, it's probably not going to be worth building the guitar using the parts he has listed.

FS may i suggest you the following:
install the wilkinson bridge to replace the floyd
or fix the floyd flush mounted.
pickups i would go for a pair of duncan blackout with a 22 fret neck,
3 way switch, maybe change the nut to graphite and also locking tuner ..:)
you may need to route the guitar body to fit the neck/bridge pu if ur body sss or just the neck if its hss..(routing at 30 apiece i think)
lastly need to get a new pickguard for the HH strat look ..
