stuck on 1 or 2 scales

hi all. i'm kinda stuck on 1 or 2 scales each time i'm solo-ing over a backing track. on top of that i rarely go past the 1st octave. i know the 7 scales well enough i think. but somehow even when i'm using the key of C, which i pretty much know the place of each scale inside out, i still find myself stuck using a few scales only. this is more pronounced when i increase the tempo. any ideas how to improve on this?? thanks :)

Play it in a different key? Different part of the neck? Know beyond the first octaves?

How about getting to know the notes on the neck throughout the neck, all strings, and get to know what each note does to the progression or style of playing your in.

Sorry no time to give you a better guide.

Sir you said that you know all of the 7 scales but you are stuck with 1 or 2 scale position than i suggest that you incorporate more slides in your soloing so that it will go to a different scale position.
It would also be an advantage if you were to know the notes on the fretboard because you can transpose the lick that you are playing to the other position of the fretboard:)
