hmmm...i use DR tite-fit 52 - 10 strings all the time...last me for quite long..very durable...very nice sounding

i have a preference for GHS Boomers (.009 set) & they handle everything i play, from black metal to blues... IMO, personal preference overides the genre specifics- you can always play anything with the strings you like.

genre doesnt have anything to do with string. String factors are

-durability
-sound (e.g. brightness etc)

Daddario's 10s. Lasts long for me. And I get it cheap (nt sure cheapest). 10 packs for $50. :smt075
