Strings get tighter as i correct the tuning, or am i dreaming?

I notice that as I retune the guitars that go out of tune from playing, after awhile the strings seem to feel tighter, and i notice the bridge is no longer level, and is instead tilted downwards towards the neck, in the same position you get when u press the tremolo bar downwards to loosen the strings.

normal position
<=||===============[==== = =]

my bridge position
<=||===============[==== // =]

Did i do something wrong or miss out something?

are you using a guitar with a floating bridge?

you need to rebalance the tension from your strings, and your cavity springs. make sure all the strings are in tune, then take a look at the bridge... the bridge is being "dragged out from the cavity"? time to lessen the cavity spring tension. you can replace a high tension spring with a lower tension spring, or use a longer spring instead.

keep retuning and soon you will find the correct spring tension needed to counter the strings while setting the bridge flat

does that mean i have to remove the existing spring and replace with a looser one? Will i end up having to buy several springs? Is there another way too adjust the tension without having to replace the springs?

Yup its a floating bridge. This happens to 2 of my guitars with floating bridges.

regardless of the bridge type, whammy-able bridges would over-pronate according to the string tension. this is one of the reasons why some people just give up playing such guitars, they prefer fixed bridges to avoid this headache.

all you need to do here is to tighten the springs which hold the bridge in place so that it won't be 'out of place' excessively.
