String Gauge

Hi,
just want to know more about what string gauge for what type of guitar...
for default... i know that it is often up to personal preferences but i've heard people saying strat should use .009, then les paul should be .010

is it true?

how about Ibanez GAX 70? is it considered les paul type guitar? what gauge should it be?

nope string gauge is just a matter of preference. there's no need for you to use 0.09s over 0.10s for different types of guitar shapes.

also, on a side note, different gauges give u different tones. it might not be so noticeable between 9 and 10, but the is a diff between say, 8 and 10? and anything bigger than that of course. but as said earlier, its personal preference.

For me, 9s break too easily and it sounds thin, 10s don break too easily and sounds fatter.
