String cleaners

try SINGER oil lah, hehe.really works, u can see all the dirt, u get a new string sound, thats what i used long ago, planning to try out Wd40...

Singer oil for strings? Then your fingers will get too oily. Try Jim Dunlop formula 65 string cleaner and conditioner.

^My friend told me he soaked his strings in lemon oil overnight before restringing which lasted him a long time.

Yeah, I am now using fast fret, but the next day when I play, the strings already have rust on them, so trying to change to a different brand.

- what do you mean the strings rust on them? you mean when you play and use the fast fret? the strings stilll rust?

Fast Fret's too greasy for me so I resorted for cheap Peavey Lemon Oil. I didn't notice any rust after a day I used it...

I mean that after playing, I clean the strings then put fast fret, but the strings already rust the next day.

how much is the lemon oil then? Fast fret is just a wipe onto the strings. Which I tend to find quite irritating cos if your strings rust and you do not know it,the rust might smear onto the surface if you wipe the strings. IMO.

ahhh. I see,do you wipe the strings with the cloth first then apply FAST FRET or just apply FAST FRET. Cos I think I know what's the problem,I do encounter a similar problem too,so I just take a cloth and wipe the strings to remove the rust,to 'preserve' the strings longer. After that, apply fast fret. But very leceh la.

I use Ernie Ball String Cleaner! Music Theme sell it, for around $9 i think. Its a cloth, but moist with some liquid. Its like Baby Wipes, but for strings! oh, and after that i didnt have to restring for 2 months! it rocks. seriously.

hmm how long did it last? the ernie ball wiipes? and how many containing in it btw?
hmm GHS fast fret is too oily and sometimes it makes sweeping(technique, not sweep the oil away) uncomfortable. and hmm ghs fast fret is like simply applying oil. for me i just use my trusty dry cloth.

anyway. ive saw davis selling somekind of stringcleaning device. any commen?

"wash your strings with water and let dry" is the best way

Believe it or not, I use guitar cleaners to clean my cheap D'Addario strings. Or 3M silver polish.

They don't seem to tarnish with this method...
