strength on fretting arm

guys when i try to play fast sometimes i feel the strain on my forearm. anyone elese feel this strain? does this have anything to do with the strength of my fretting arm and must i go for strengthening exercises to rectify this?
 
Hmm.

strain being felt in the forearm or hand when playing fast is normal, but it's also a sign that your body can't take too much *wanking*.

I'm guessing it also has alot to do with how low you sling your guitar (when standing up) and what kind of fretting technique you are using.

that's just my point of view.. any others?
 
DO UR STRETCHES!!!!

warm up properly..

trust me..ur muscles work like MUCH MUCH better when u warm up..

i realised tt my playing is better after warm up..

in fact i can play faster and they dont sound very sloppy..

but still a lil sloppy tho..
 
you will tire easily if you fret down excessively (regardless of sitting/ standing). the common perception here is to press down hard for better effect but the key to playing well & helping you focus is to fret down as hard as it takes, nothing more.

this brings me to the picking hand- if you pick hard, chances are, you fret down equally hard. beginners tend to do this excessively which isn't necessary, pick & fret sufficiently; as long as there's sound coming from your guitar (manifested by the amp).

how long does it take before one discovers this 'perfection'? Answ: as long as it takes. every time you play, make a conscious effort to ask yourself- am i picking/ fretting excessively?

remember: excessive force = lethargy = mistakes = motivation killer
 
yeps, do some stretches

even guitar heroes like john petrucci did some stretching excercises before playing. search up petrucci's rock discipline on youtube, theres a vid where he emphasizes on warming up and safety before playing.
 
its not dangerous la pussy..i mean..kitty...

its juz tt..whenever ur gonna use ur muscles..its best to warm them up..

ur muscles works best when heated up.
