Hi Folks,

Needa some help down here.

I've got a Gibson SG Standard. And i would like to install Straplocks on it.
I bought the Dunlop straplocks but when i try to install the screw in, i realized that the screw size was bigger than the original Gibson screw.
Thus if i wan to install the Dunlop Staplocks, it means i would need to drill in a bigger hole into the guitar than i can fit in the Dunlop screws, which i do not wan.

Anyone out there got a similar experience or anyone of u can recommend me maybe a different brand of straplocks compatible for Gibson SG Standard with regards to the screw size.

Thanks!

Cheers! Peace :)

I'm not too sure about the screw size of the SG, but i'd like to recommend you the Dimarzio strap. Not too sure about the name but this one has a clip towards both ends of the strap and allows you to clip the strap on or off. I believe Steve Vai uses this one.

Oh... I see.. I've seen that ard. But i'm not really a fan of it. Cos i prefer to use leather strap.

But thks anyway for ur recommendation :)

not sure of the dunlops, but can the original gibson screw fit in?

with schallers, SG users usually use the original gibson screw but modified abit to fit the straplock pin.
i guess it really depends on the yr also due to gibson's great consistency.
some yrs the original neck screw has a smaller diameter than the bottom one, so you would really need to use them.
some yrs, both have the same diameter, so the schaller or dunlop screws will be a perfect drop.
but also take note the schaller / dunlop screws are longer, so on the neck they will almost hit the base of the fretboard, which is why most re-use the original gibson screw.

i have schallers on one of my SGs, tho i used the schaller screws with the neck one trimmed abit.
for the rest i just use this cheaper dunlop option.
