Strap for A heavy guitar (les paul : 5kg)

What is recommended?

I use a a brandless strap that i brought for $15, and I installed the strap lock and still the strap came off.. Scare the hell of me..

My Greco Les Paul Custom weights 5Kg.. It is the heavy guitar I use up till now..

What can be done? Leather strap is better? Where can I get?

any strap also can.... my old burny was heavier, and i used a really thin leather strap ( like the one jimmy page uses ) and its ok..

Where to get mono strap? I put on my strap and it came off a few time.. That kind of scary of dropping guitar feel i won't wan to experience again!

Leather strap just go any guitar shop ask la...
Anyway bro dodgethis used it on his strat which is probably a third of your paul's weight...

I'm using an epiphone leather strap from swee lee, with dunlop straplocks (that little black thing that rotates to lock) my epiphone les paul standard doesnt have any problems with falling off. yet. XD

I prefer locking straps not straplocks though. Reason being they can be switched from guitar to guitar. And they have neevr failed me be it for practice or performance. Planet Waves. Good stuff.

use thick straps.

physics: P = F/A

if your surface area is larger, the pressure will be smaller, and hence your shoulder will feel less of the pressure since it is spread to a larger area.

Will get a mono after these suggestion.. *thanks** But once saw Wu Yue Tian use a leather strap look damm cool and tough.. the weight is nightmare for all players..

Wrong concept, its the how big the strap is, surface area of the thickness does not matter, what matters is the surface area in contact with your shoulder. The bigger the better.

If it is dropping off that you are concerned about, do consider strap locks that 'almost' ensure that your straps don't come loose. Ernie Ball, Dunlop, Planet Waves come into mind.

ah, what i meant with the thickness is how wide it is, not how 'thick' the strap is. sorry if any confusion was caused.

but having said that, having thicker strap also helps, because thicker usually means better padding.

use eye bolts with leather straps instead

I'd recommend the Sadowsky strap as well. You can get it at TYMC. It has a very large surface area, and it feels great to touch.
