Static from C01U

I'm really frustrated with my c01U that I left it in the box after using twice. I have no idea why is there so much static (god knows where they came from). Does this happen with all USB mics?

I was thinking of purchasing a simple m audio mobile pre and possibly an m audio nova in order to eliminate the static. Would it work?

could you post mp3 samples and let us hear the examples of the static ? could be interferences, or grounding problems or check make sure everything is plugged in properly, any fluorescent lighting also? or fans? try change position of the mic? (esp if the cable goes parallel to an electrical power cable)

This is an example of the static im referring too. The hissing. Would using a m audio mobile pre reduce the prevalence of the hiss?

From what I understand, the hiss/static occurs due to the poor quality of soundcards on laptops which inadvertantly picks up noise from other processes on the motherboard. On the other hand, a mobile pre acts as an external soundcard, thereby reducing the occurence of the hiss. Am I right?

I understand the grounding issues thats why whenever I record, I make it a point to run it on batteries. Ive tried all usb ports to no avail. Is it just a standard problem all USB mics face?

Bro I run my laptop on batteries. SIGH. Im getting my Mobilepre tmrw.....Hopefully it is an issue with the onboard soundcard.

yea i thought of asking you whether you used your laptop with battery too, but thanks for providing information before I asked and lucky I read before posting.

sorry for the bad news, but seems like it's the way it is. I believe you'll be cheered up with your new maudio purchase.

the other thing is, even with an audio interface, there'll be noise interference from hard disks etc. but way lesser.

welcome to soft by the way!
