Starting with an electric.

I've been playing guitar for a while now but never actually contemplated to get an electric for my own till today.

So for a price range below $500, can the awesome people of this forum please advise me on what guitars are good?
Don't wanna spend too much because i'm not that proficient skill wise. Just wanna enjoy playing.

Personal preference of playing more rock and sometimes metal. love a good crunch sound like Killswitch Engage.

I did some research and it seems like there are a few good guitars within the price range like
a) Epiphone Les Paul Special II
b) Epiphone Les Paul 100
c) Epiphone Les Paul Standard
d) Ibanez GRG 170DX
e) Ibanez SA 160FM

Not sure if there anymore. Thanks in advance for all the advice.

Looks like you're more towards guitars with humbuckers. Ibanezes and Epiphones are worth looking at; especially at the 2nd hand forums. I would also suggest the Rally GL300/GL400 with pickup upgrades; that should be just within your budget range.

I don't want to sound as if i'm soliciting, but i'm selling my Ibanez RGT42DX at $500 with case. Can PM me for more info.

if your budget is 500, do split it carefully

e.g.:

amp $150
cable / tuner / strap/ etc $50
guitar ~$300
