Squier Japan

Hey guys, i've been given a Japanese Squier strat with the serial number N023378. I checked Fender's product dating service, apparently it was made just after i was born, from 1993-1994! Anyone has any background on these Japanese Squiers? I couldn't find much info on the internet, even after Googling. Will post pics and also update about the tone and stuff once i plug it in. Might be looking to sell it off. Thanks!

MIJ Squiers were made in FujiGen up to '97. After that they were considered CIJ rather than MIJ, crafted by Tokai afrter '97. I don't know how much it's worth but i remember one being on Class Ads for 700 bucks, overpriced imo.

^ have you played a squier strat first hand?, there are some which follow the vintage specs exactly and go for really high prices, naturally, they sound damn awesome, worth every penny.

Hahaha well my current elec is already criminally underplayed, i don't want to be doubly guilty! Hahaha. The condition isn't the best, but very acceptable for a 15 year old axe (if the serial number dating thing is right). Also, i could use the cash as i have more urgent matters to attend to. Thanks for the replies!

Unfortunately i have not tried those vintage ones, but from a collector's pov, Squier isn't exactly the most collectible.
From a player's pov, one man's gem is another's dog. But you won't be seeing be spend 700 bucks on a Squier strat on class ads unless i get some time to check it out. There are, of course, dogs and gems in every batch...

Hahahaha well you're welcome to try mine! Its still with my friend, the one who's giving it to me. I haven't had the chance to try it plugged in yet, only unplugged, but from what i've gathered, its very resonant and has good sustain, the neck is very very playable too. Its chunky enough for my big hands, yet slim enough to go really fast. I just hope the pickups work xD, or else it'd be almost entirely useless to keep it.
