The new Spider III are out in City Music man...

Very tempted to get one.
But can't seem to find much info on it.
Any help guys?

i hate the line6 spider II..

the sound is rilli so digital..not my kinda sound.

but well..

wadeva rocks thy balls!

Am very sure. Was at City Music with a friend and saw the load of Spider III inside. I was so shocked.
Dunno if they just stick the Spider III logo over the II.

But I am very sure they are there.

yea i went to check em out at city music today... quite cool, from the 75 watt onwards it has 400 preset sounds, and still has the original line6 channels (clean, twang, blues, crunch, metal, insane), 2 tyes of each of those channels so that = 12 channles 8O

and yes i already mentioned the 400 preset sounds of many famous songs/bands haha, whole lotta built in effects too

the 75 watt is like $470+ after discount so IMO its really worth it. of course it does lack that certain "soul" of a non-digital amp, but hell u get hundreds of different sounds from it at that price! so im not complaining haha

Digging up an ooold thread without making a new one.

Is it just me or is the spider III extremely treblish? Been jamming with the head/cab version and no matter how I tweak the onboard Eq's its still waaaaaay treblish in an irritating way. Its as though the Treble controls serves no purpose at all cept to make it even MORE treblish.

Any idea of tweaking it other than change jamming place or getting an EQ pedal?

I do use a drive pedal but its my main drive, the UM.

But even with that I have to cut most of the treble out cause its waaay irritating, I prefer a warm distorted/clean tone than high ear piercing ear bleeding noise.... and I've already put the treble all the way down to 0 and its still treble heeaven.

hmm the spider II was a pretty good amp. Used it set to clean mode and EQ set flat. Takes pedals pretty well, didnt use the modelin on the amp though.

lol buy a ten band eq and plummet down the highs if thats what u really want

haha i think a spider IV is gonna come out any moment now, digital stuff always lidat haha... dont take me literally though i said i "i think"

Hmm.

Well once I did jam at a certain place that was using a Spider III head and half-stack.. and the sound I got from it was just... urgh, like what lifele55 said it was too trebly and I could not hear myself very well because I was standing right in front of the amp.

At that point in time, I was too broke to buy pedals, so I moved on elsewhere, and I've found the right place where I'm comfy with the sound.

Ditto Crawldaddy, I had to stand over the other side or behind the cab itself to save my ears from bleeding.

And at this time getting an EQ isn't in the books just yet or actually getting a delay is top priority so I guess have to move "house"...

might have a place in mind too..

seriously, if the spider amps are just for practice and bedroom musicians, it is good enough. the 15W is a good bedroom amp, the 30W is good enough for a small gig. agree with ciel, it takes pedals pretty well, add abit of its own reverb, and you'll get quite a good tone.

had been using a SpiderII 30W for about a year, no problem at all. just plug your guit into the amp, press a preset, and you're ready to practice. Good for lazy pple like me.

was worried when i had to gig with one once but it surprised me. if given a choice bet spider IIs and other amps such as the early marshall VT or crate amp modeling amps i rather go with spider II.

i got the spider III 30 watt and i use it as an excellent vocal amp.

add reverb and wahlah, beautiful vocal efx.

I really didnt like it , very one dimensional.
it was not dynamic like my sexy tube amp.

Takes pedals quite well i guess.
