Flatfoot or Heel-Toe?

i'v seen drummers taking it to the extremes with just flatfoot. n i'v seen drummers taking it to the same level as tht w/ heel-toe. basicali heel-toe gives u a double stroke, while flatfoot delivers more control n power in a single hit. which would ye prefer? Or do ye think itz scientifically the same? Or do ye say they r 2 different things?

don't u use ur arms to paddle?? haha jk.

heel toe technique is defintely faster and less tiring than heel up/heel down/ flat foot. however i feel its difficult to use heel toe in ordinary double pedals.. i know of drummers who can but its way too difficult for me.. axis long boards are build for that but its the $$ that stops most of us from getting one. hehe. so i'd rather stick to just working with heel up movement and concentrate on having more control on them.. for now. cos for me, its still a long way before i can even thinking of doing heel toe.

speaking about axis.. i dropped by drum resource recently and saw a couple of axis pedals!! got to try them out.. rocks!! nigel said he will most likely be bringing them in.. or maybe he already has. cos the ones i saw were just "samples" for him and he hasnt come up with the price yet. go down and check it out.. it'll probably be the closest you can get to having you own.. for poor buggers like me.. haha

axis in sg?!?!? where?!?!? i heard they'r like 600 euro. 800us. they r the shit man! yes basicali i got this doubt abt heel toe n flatfoot frm watchin n talking to axis n pearl eliminator drummers. flo mounier uses pearl bt does heel toe for those 32nd notes. derek roddy uses axis bt he ses flatfoot involves heel toe action when going at rolling speeds. some detailed physiological explanations in his forum..should check it out.

i prefer spelling it out as paddling (for serious nuts, there is no such word) coz pedalling is a character too long n it sounds cooler!

hey man,
i've found this new method(well new for me anyway). i use it for fast sambas like 140bpms and above. its the sliding method, where ur at heel up position. foot at the end of the pedal hits one then travels up the board for the second hit. you dun really need any fancy pedal for it really, i'm sure it'll help some if u got one but mainly its ur technique and how well the correct muscles are conditioned.

how does toe-heel work? JoJo Mayer does heel-toe double pedal. but heel-toe is like one swift down motion. how do you switch back to heel after the toe and make it standard so it's a constant and consistent heel-toe-heel-toe-heel-toe?

heel-toe will b easier, or rather less difficult on a long board. i tried on a normal iron cobra..the strokes were there bt i could tell that even with tons of practice, u wont get a clear double hit. well im not much of a drummer..mayb would b easier for u guys. bt i doubt the possibility w/o a longbo since itz all in the science. mayb a lil close to what blurred mentioned..his way of compensating for the inadequate space is sliding.

daltonism: itz basically a bounce. or kind of. u start with toe, then u bounce to heel, then smoothly go back to toe, then bounce..and so on..repeat. kind of hard to get used to.

oh iron cobra is a different story... it is the heaviest pedal i think so yeah the heel toe technique would take more effort on such pedals...

eliminators rock hahah:) but i own cobras...

whoa i heard frm a friend tht the axis is a fckin gd pedal..itz worth the price tag definitely. One can achieve tremendous speed & precision. Gotta drop by drum resource again to try it out..

Please do, I second your friend.
I went in there, sat myself behind a pair of A2 shortboards, pulled the VDLs all the way back, put my left foot down, right foot down, then blasted like I never could on my other pedals.

Axis are good when you've played on cheaper ones because it takes some muscle to make good use of the feel.

axis is 900 right? woah man thats a really hih price for a pedal.
Axis X longboard doubles are going at SGD$850 I think (I saw this deal in Luthermusic).

Aircraft-grade aluminum alloy averages to about SGD$15 per pound, so 900 isn't high, it's "Double-U_Tee_Eff" ridiculous...LOL

But seriously, my first try with the AL2s were an out-of-body experience.
XD
