This July, experience a mix of sound and experimental jazz from one of Australia’s most exciting improvising duos, Spartak, as they take to the road again to promote their new album ‘No Signal’. This tour will see Spartak’s return to Singapore for the first time since 2007. With supporting acts, Mux, Darren Moore and Tim Odywer, Aya Sekine and Sonicbrat.

This July sees one of Australia’s most exciting improvising duos Spartak take the road again in support of their new mini album ‘No Signal’, a collection of new work following on from last year’s acclaimed ‘Tales From The Colony Room’, released on hellosQuare recordings. This tour will also see Spartak return to Singapore and Malaysia for the first time since 2007.
As Spartak, Shoeb Ahmad (guitar, computer, voice, woodwinds) and Evan Dorrian (drum kit, percussion, computer, field recordings) have spent the last three years exploring a hybrid sound of ‘indie’ rock, jazz improvisation, electronic music and modern composition."

Darren Moore is an Australian musician currently based in Singapore. He is involved in various projects as a drummer and as an experimental laptop artist. He has performed and collaborated with musicians such as Jon Rose, Chris Abrahams, Scott Tinkler, Eugene Pao, Tim O'Dwyer, Greg Lyons, Tobias Delius, Will Guthrie, Eric Boeren, Wilbert de Joode, Micheal Vatcher to name a few. He has toured throughout Europe, Australia, South East Asia, Japan and the USA. Currently in Singapore he is a lecturer in Popular Music at LASALLE College of the Arts

Timothy Odwyer is a composer, saxophonist and educator working between the general areas of music known as jazz, contemporary notated music and improvised music. He is currently programme leader of music and lecturer in jazz at the School of Contemporary Music LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore

mux is a collective formed by Bani Haykal, Luqman Hakim and Siraaj Anwar; out to experiment and device new performances weaving sound design, music and text.
mux's work deals with the coexistence of experimental lateral storytelling and layered, yet minimal, sound / music compositions. The stories they tell incorporate stream of consciousness, almost always resulting the text to become more of an ambient than a direction leading towards an end. Their interest in discovering new methods to deliver the crux of a given piece has resulted the trio to explore further into film soundtrack, sound design and live foley.

Born in Osaka Japan, Aya is an experimental jazz musician who has performed internationally with numerous renowned jazz musicians. Aya is also interested in the possibilities of experimental sound, and has collaborated with Singaporean artists Phillip Tan and Daniel K in their work. Besides performing, she has been actively involved in the organisation of music events such as Japan-Smacksdown-NewYork 2000, a 10-day festival which featured 7 Japanese highly acclaimed experimental groups and local NYC musicians in September 2000.
She is now based in Singapore, and plays regularly at Jazz@Southbridge and BluJaz Café.

SONICBRAT, is a believer in poetic imperfection and most of his music is performed and recorded on the fly without multi-tracking.
Sonicbrat is a Singapore-based sound artist and music composer whose electro-acoustic sound-bites have established him as one of the most sought after sound designers and music composers/arrangers in the local theatre and art scene, and whose sound is one that critics have described as part primordial and part industrial. His works have been compared to Erik Satie and Martin Denny by international music
reviewers from UK (WIRE: Ken Hollings) and Hong Kong (Hompy). Trained in classical piano, he has ventured into the digital realm of sampling, Musique Concrete, acousmatic music, digital and analogue synthesis, bringing a new sonic experience for his listeners.
He is currently an Associate Sound Designer for The Finger Players Ltd.
