it's like learn how to work cameras. edit video, edit sound. etc etc. the project she did in year 1 or 2 was really cool. it was to film a short film so ya..

oh really?? hmm people told me its good as it like 3 in 1. then u are more versatile etc. can go into sound engineer etc...got the module etc...

then how abt Singapore Poly media n audio studies?? anyone know abt this?

hmmm. perhaps. but i have fsv video acquaintances who graduate not knowing enough of each, esp sound. they know the jargons, the names of the tools - and that's about it.

i m also considering that course in ngee ann poly too IF i cannot stay on in jc due to my EXCELLENT end of yr results :? ..i did consult my teacher as he had taught there before..cool eh? 8) he said that the recording studio is one of the best in asia n that the course is good as it encompasses the holistic aspect of the media industry but of cos more to the technical part..so it should b cool..

i shall know my fate this thurs once i get my final result on whether i can stay in jc or not..if not, we all can go to the open house together k?

The recording studio is very impressive even theough 70% of the equipment is working lol, but the mixes that come out from there.....

I was a FSV Graduate. While in there, I learnt the dark side of the industry esp the bitching part.

Sound has the lowest number of people choosing to specialize in it besides animation. FSV is the only school that really does ANALOG film, it's also the only chance you get to touch film.

As for sound, it takes years to train your ears, you only touch mixing for less than 2 years. And it's only studio and location sound. There's more money in "Live" sound but they don't teach you that.

How many FSV Graduates in sound can set up and tear down an entire console to speaker system up to the stage set up?

hmmm..if i m not wrong, i think its Audio Engineering college ah..basically it is bout..ermm..audio engineering? hehe..dunno much bout it though..sorry

haha...i dunno man....it seems that audio/music tech is like narrowing ur chances later on to get job. The FSV is like more versatilie..tats my opinion ar..

it's definitely a edge FSV will have over SAE. FSV is more versatile. my sis graduated from FSV and has managed to get a job which involves what she's learnt. but she isnt settled; very fickle person, thus the job hopping. my sis has done from freelance photography, sound for fashion shows, and if im not wrong even 1 of the minister conference sound system was set up by the team she was in. (saw security tags with her around that point of time and when i went with my dad to drop her off there was shitload of militery.) now she does video editing in mediacorp. and to me the big plus about FSV is the analog film. it's really cool i tell you seeing things from the analog film. i cannot think of another course in poly that i really want to go i tell you lol. from what i heard from my teachers about SAE is that it's just audio engineering. going through FSV will land you the same job. but if you dont get it, you've still got the FILM skills and VIDEO skills.

FSV graduates correct me if im wrong. but me and me sis discuss alot about this. and shit la i hope i really can get in np fsv

i think it really depend on what you major at. ofcause you got to learn everything in FSV. but you need to major in something in the 3rd year. Video is the only major that can get you into jobs in Singapore cause everyone is using it. ofcause film is what everyone going for but Singapore is not a major film industry and you wouldn't get to do what you learn. and i personally think that the 1 year major don't really teach you everything. is just the very basic on film production. i'm not in that course but that's what i heard from people who come out from that course. :)
For me, if you want to get the interesting subject... major film. for jobs, video. dream to live like a rock star, sound. :P IMOH.... :) overall, they got got course and equipment which other poly and courses cannot offer. still media industry depend alot on your skill.... nobody see your cert unless you want to work in mediacorp or those government agencies. :)

People will tell you to go SAE...overseas. Local one not so good.
Most importantly get a job related to what you learnt. I have friends from FSV who went into a totally different industry after graduation.
You need at least a C5 in English for FSV, Direct Admission And a good understanding about the Media Scene for the test they will put you through. And a good portfolio of your works so far if you are asked to go through the interview. The interviewers will ask you what you want to do in the future, why they should take you in over other people and how you can make a contribution to the course.

wow..tat are really useful infomation given by all of u man. thankz a lot. atleast now i am more aware for the future for me...
Nak. ur sis done some very interesting stuffs eh...make me wanna do it too in the future..haha
