Sound system for home jamming

hey dudes, i'm in the midst of creating a home jamming studio (just a practice space) and i need some advice with the vocals part. right now i have 3 guitar amps, a bass amp and a drum set. all i need is a vocal system. for the past year or so my band has been using a mic into a guitar amp for vocals. not good. vocals are unable to cut through. i need advice for a decent system for vocals. doesn't need to be top notch high end quality, as they aren't for producing music or mixing or whatever. just practicing with my band. i would appreciate it if suggestions of what equipment were given.

thanks for the help.

+1 for yamaha stagepas. a lot of power in a tiny package, heaps of headroom. hv used it numerous times and found it to be a consistent and hardy piece of kit.

If you are practicing only, you may be interested in the in-ear mix for monitoring. My blues group is moving in that direction so that we can practice without disturbing neighbors. Behringer, Presonus, Rolls, Samson, and others have headphone amps that might fit the budget. Then, use the house PA, rent, beg, or borrow something for playing in front of an audience.

It's easier on the back to pack the POD or other guitar/bass preamp to gigs that have PAs. There are drawbacks of course.
