Hi, my friends and I have recently just formed a band and we would like to know which songs are suitable for a beginner band. Thanks and Hello to this forum as i am new to it.
it interests me that most bands start off playing punk.
MOST bands.
well you guys can try Nirvana. (Smells Like Teen Spirit is a killer!)
otherwise, Weezer? (El Scorcho and The Sweater Song. the drum parts are alright for a beginner drummer.)
if your drummer's good, try blink 182 and Green Day.
then work your way up. experiment with different genres.
Green day stuffs. Easiet of the easiet. And they are popular too.
Or you can try Money for nothing - Dire Straits. Not for beginner but it's one heck of a song, so yeah.
Omg i forgot. Yeah AC/DC stuffs like Highway to hell, etc. The guitar + drum + bass parts is easy but vocal is a bit troublesome.
my time, if female vox, we'd jam on blondie songs or to keep up with the times back then, cranberries stuff..
joan jett's stuffs are simple and good too...some of the pretenders' stuff is cool too..
or the bangles..you could never go wrong with walk like an egyptian..
Smells Like Teen Spirit isn't that hard a song to play on drums, honestly. I'd say most local drummers could play it, except me la of course. Me megan00b.
But I second Smells Like Teen Spirit. Try "Rape Me" as well. Female vocals + Rape Me = STEAM.
Huh. I've only got one song by Lostprophets! HAHAHA. Last Train Home or something. A bit fierce. Sounds like a nice easy song. The drum part, if you're concerned, I find is easy to cover as well.
if you want to, you could try Avril Lavigne "Under My Skin" album.
Good Charlotte and Green Day would be good ones too.
how about Incubus? or maybe Lifehouse?
you could try Michelle Branch too.
there's also Oasis, Paramore, Plain White T's, Sum 41 and Yellowcard.
you could try them all if you want too.
just trying to help bro.
:-D
