Sometimes I just feel like giving up learning guitar

Do any of you here feel that too? Sometimes I just feel like giving up learning the guitar. But I have not totally lost interest yet. I know there are tons of nice guitar songs around and that is why I refuse to totally give up yet I just do not have that motivation to learn and play. Guitar to me is always 'on hold'.

Get a few friends, form a band and jam with them. Then find a gig to play at.

That will make you wanna play more and also understand the dynamics of music and your instrument.

Music is a form a communication so playing alone by yourself will sometimes makes it feel like a chore.

My 2 cents.

I have been playing alone since picking up the guitar the first time. I guess that is the reason why my enthusiasm start withering after so many years of on and off. And yes, I sometimes feel practising the guitar and learning new songs is a chore that is getting nowhere and bores me out. I think I need to get out and find opportunities to play with others.

Speaking from a reality check perspective.
Have a good talk with your "guitar". Maybe she's the one giving up on you. There are still many different "forms of passion" out there. and with her, this is just puppy love. Maybe what you need is some real time off and experiment spending time with other "passion" and finally convince yourself that this "guitar playing" is not what you really want. But hey do prove me and your parents or whoever thinks this "guitar playing" is not the one for you. Let all the other musicians here with their love for their "guitar/music instrument" start flaming me for discouraging you. The light that burns off my post may show you the way on what you really feel vs want vs need vs can... Or not

Replace all "words" with "woman" and vice versa.its all relevant. Ikr wtf did u just read.

P.s I tried learning the guitar 15 years ago, practised till I fell asleep with it as bolster pillow.i sucked at it. Then I sold her for money and picked up audiorecording instead and never turned back. I was a heartless man but we are both in a better place now.

Have a good TGIF and RIPLKY

Agreed. Absolutely. Go join a band or form one. Otherwise you will "feel bore and stop".

I'm also a "guitarist on hold". I've found passion elsewhere. It's normal, I think. For some people, guitar is a lifelong passion. For others, it comes and goes. I still have my guitars and gear and I still play them once in awhile. But I'm on hold and it's perfectly fine.

That said, I have played in a band and performed before, so maybe it'll help if you gave that a try, too. You learn a lot from it. Those were really good times for me.

agreed with EugeneSmasher.
I was really into it when I was younger, playing in a band with friends and making new ones along the way. now I just meet up with old friends every few weeks for casual jams, and that's when i pick up my guitar and start learning songs again.

your passion died because there are other things in life
than guitars, eg family, women, career and etc
