Somethign good wanna share, drum solo.

First of all, thanks for sharing Slapshock. You are really nice. :) As for Yoshiki's style of drumming, its all about raw energy outburst and stamina. He prefers to go for power which is portrayed in his songs rather then more towards groove. Nevertheless, this is his unique style and I think we all should respect him as an artist...

I think he is a great performer. But I can't say much about his "raw energy" and "aggressive style" which everyone praises about him. I've seen better drummers who play with far exceeding power and dexterity.

Yoshiki as a drummer, I'm not impressed in any way. He just seems so much like a mediocre drummer with nothing unique or different to offer. And look at that setup, how can anyone play comfortably with such those awkward angles.

Probably its because after hearing so much from other people about him, I was hoping to see something impressive. But judging from that solo, it has to be the most monotonous drumming ever, coupled with some of the stupidest stage antics I've seen.

Just another Jordison clone, no big deal. I was even anticipating for some cliche stage platform rotation. So yeah, watch, applaud, then move on.

Hey you know, to be honest he can't solo for nuts on the drums, BUT!

Watch him on the piano and you'll worship him... really, this guy is an absolute genius...

I don't really see him as a drummer. I see him as a musician. Not to mention that he composed so many of X Japan's greatest hits.

His drum parts on the songs are pretty wild too. It takes a lot of stamina to finish one song... much like Slipknot, but more musical.

If I wanted to hear him drum, I'd whip out the Last Live dvd and watch his drum parts during the songs... they're wicked! Maybe not much in terms of rhythmic variation but still, I find it a great watch. :D

Sorry, just my $0.02. I really respect this guy and I can't help it when someone plays him down... his drumming is nothing special to be honest, but he's not just a drummer. To able to drum like that while being a virtuoso pianist coupled with the fact that he is a composer/producer, is nothing short of incredible.

Try looking for this track: UNDER A RAGING MOON..by Roger Daltry - a tribute to his ex drummer Keith Moon - It's on the After the Fire album - It's got 9 diffirent drummers playing diffirent solos in the course of the song ...including Phillips...

being a virtuoso pianist

I wonder if purebred pianists have anything to say about that.

Well okay, I might be exaggerating, you can't compare him to the likes of Chopin or any modern virtuoso, but hey, in my book he's still a great pianist with great showmanship. Sorry man, I might have gotten a little over my head with that post.

Anyway, we should thank the threadstarter for sharing videos. Thanks dude.

i dont really think that was a great solo. he's pretty talented but it stops there.

just my $0.02 8)

uhm. Solo sounded okay. just that at some parts I felt he was almost 'anyhow' whacking because there didn't seem to be any rhythm. stage antics...*heh* very interesting...

I'm grateful to Yoshiki for helping me to get the rest I so badly needed. Even Osim chairs have a limit to how much relaxation they can provide. But, no... With Yoshiki, rest is in abundance!

I fell asleep while watching his video, and I woke up so refreshed from that rest. However, don't listen to it while you're driving... Somehow, u're meant to keep your eyes open on the road! =)

And yea, I think he's a great pianist too. I'm sure he could make people like Oscar Peterson, and Chick Corea curl up in ball and hum sweet melodies as they slumber...

Glad to know he has made success out of his Career. So therapeutic... ZZZzzzz

Hm.........

Heh, just giving 'slumberiffic' credit, where 'slumberiffic' credit is due!

To those who suffer sleepless nights due to work/sch/whatever that induces stress, fret not! It's not too late! All you got to do is d/l that amazing, well acclaimed drum solo clip by the famed Yoshiki, and you'll sleep like a baby!

I'm such a fan... Some say he's so motivational that he makes you want to pick up drums, while others would relish his great drumming in awe and say, 'wow... so full of emotion, so full of life and zest, wow...'

What can I say? He can probably help Singapore by playing to the Aides Mosquitoes! He can make them all sleep while environmental officers dispose of them! Such a gift he possesses!

X Japan = Zzz S'pore = ZZzzz Aides Mosquito = No more Dengue.
