soloing into another scale

after some time i think i know how to solo...im now using the blues pentatonic scale for soloing..and i came up with this...with both hearing and with feeling as well (been studying steve vai's alien love secrets guitar lessons)

my first attempt was to solo with a simple chord progression, simply put, a Am-F-C-G. and by playing this solo, i only get to solo in Am and not the rest of the chords.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------5h7--5----------------------------
------------------5------5----5------5--------5h7--5--------5-7p5--------------
-----------5-6-7---6-7---6-7--6-7----6-7---5h7--5---5-7---------7-6-5-------
-----5-6-7--------------------------------------------------------------------7-6-5---
-5-8------------------------------------------------------------------------------8-5~

orite so i got this solo, so how do i try and "connect" it with this scale to complete the progression?? im into pentatonics and this is a scale which i have been frequently practicing. its the minor pentatonic scale.

---------------------------------7-8---------------
-------------------------6-8-10--------------------
-------------------5-7-9---------------------------
-------------5-7-9---------------------------------
-------5-7-8---------------------------------------
-5-7-8---------------------------------------------

thanks and cheers ;)

hi there!!

i'm really keen to learn how to do 7h5. please teach me.. i would really love to learn this technique.

oh shyt....typo error

lolx its actually the other way around lolx. i actually tried it and it sounded simliar lol..

that guy metalella is an arse man, shame on him :x !

anyways, it would be quite useless to just show us tabs when we dont know how it sounds like. i mean, imo it would be more helpful if you could write it in "tao ghey". otherwise, we'd just be making assumptions.

somehow, I'd leave this one to the pros  .

AM progression should work fine with the chords u've mentioned.
And there no definite formula on how you should connect the licks.. its all about feeling and hearing as you said. Well, its not all about the choice of notes, the way you play the note, the variation of note length plays a part too..

relinquish, i admit i'm an arse.. can't help it. =)

but tao ghey this 2 words, have tons of meaning in it, which one are you refering to relinquish, and which are you refering to, fenderrules. it may be the same 2 words, tao ghey, but may have different meaning.

TAO GHEY meanings

1. bean sprouts (yummy)

2. the asian slang for musical notation

so obviously relinquish is using the 2nd one loh..

tsk tsk, we are going off topic at this rate.

what I meant by tao ghey is just for reference. at least we can know the timing of your solo so that we can like "feel your feel". you feel me  ?

another alternative to tao ghey or in other words the easiest way, is just do a recording and we'll give our comments on it.

hmm for the "connection part" i find that bending a note to overlap with another from another scale works really well.

Anyway for the minor pentatonic scales itself, there are 5 different versions which are connected to one another. So you don't just play down the fingerboard you play across it too.

try play a D note, then moving down to the C note, or D note up to the A note.

D is a pivot note in both C major and Aminor keys. so i think should help make a smooth transition in a scale.

hey people, there's chords AM,F,C,G, in a song, for example like what fenderrules mention. Can i only play the AM scale to solo? issit fine if i play the F or C or G scale?

erm how do I say this.

the Am pentonic scale can be a part of the C Maj scale. therefore if you are playing in a Am progression, you can play the C Maj scale and it would still sound right.
