can anyone explain to me the pros and cons of having one/two soapbar pickups and how it is better/lousier than having single/split coil pickups?

It's all a matter of tonal preference. Soapbars and humbuckers will produce meater tones, with less top end snap than Single/split coil pickups, in my opinion.

Then again, it'll depend on your preamp too.

i kinda agree with rentabass ... soapbars tend to fatten up your sound ... giving you a more modern sound. But i find that with a good preamp you can balance out the highs and lows. So you have to do your research and know what you want in your tone.

I still prefer single coils pickup in my opinion but i dont' mind getting soapbars with an aggie preamp .. hee hee ..

+2 for single coils!! 8)

i feel that soapbars can be the most versatile, humbuckers pack the most punch and singles just have the oomphy naturalness. that's my opinion :D
