ALOHA :D

I just want to share something about this u-cool-lele instrument.

Many have known ukulele as a small portable instrument associated with strumming to accompany singing. It's so true, but in the bigger context it holds many more functions in the bigger musical context, it can be a melody instrument, harmony instrument, percussive instrument and even perhaps as an orchestral instrument if it's played solo.

Some solo sample :

In the jazz context it's a instrument that could accommodate our spontaneous creativity in term of soloing as well as supporting the rhythm section.

Here're some samples :
(duet with my guitar student, Alicia)
(jam session at Jazzkini organized by Chaka Priambudi)

We're having a UKULELE CAMP & FUN HO-LELE-DAY 2019 during this coming long weekend with the theme of "Introduction to Jazz".

Participants will learn about what jazz is in general, what the language is, how the band works, what the function of each supportive instrument, and how ukulele plays part there.

Join us as we still have some slots available. If you're able to strum even some simple chords, you'll still be able to contribute to our ensemble and learn through the fun experience in this camp. You can bring along your family too ;)

Our ensemble song would be New Uke New Uke...I mean "New York New York". It's originally arranged for big band, but I'll arrange it for ukulele ensemble.

Let me know if you're joining & hope to see you soon.
