Rilek 1 corner with UrbanKarma...
A beautiful Saturday afternoon is the setting for ethno metallic arsonist URBANKARMA ‘RILEK ONE CORNER’ session, showcasing their new single – Cradle of Turmoil, giving a sense of fresh air approach by these veterans. Held at Fourtones
In a Rock context, a few artistes like John Lennon & Creed’s Scott Stapp wrote songs with lyrics in dedication of a newborn child. Metal? Max did record his unborn son’s heartbeat into a song and the most prevalent is probably Skinlab’s Noah, Urbankarma’s new single is one of those that pushed the envelope further. One of the boldest & clever steps in enlarging the lyrical scope of metal.

Cradle of Turmoil, is a thrashy song laced with a melodic chorus, written by guitarist/vocalist and founder of Urbankarma, Burhanudin Buang. The song depicts a child born in a world of turmoil is written in dedication to Burhan’s son, Andreas Khairiel, who was born on October 26th 2004. The idea to write a song for his son came up about two months before Andreas was born.

"When I aproach a child, he/she inspires in me two sentiments: tenderness for what he/she is, and respect for what he ay become." - Louis Pasteur. A quote that perhaps sums up the song.

Burhan said “The move to write a rather personal song about a newborn child is in line with Urbankarma’s policy of doing things differently. Cradle of Turmoil is different because it has a blatantly positive and uplifting lyrical content, something that goes against the grain of conventional metal lyrics.” The interesting part is the band has decided that the song is not for radio. The breaking away from convention also extends to the fact that for the first time the band will not release the song on CD.

The track was recorded at TNT Studio, between April and September 2005. Recorded and mixed by KK Wong aka Ah Boy, while mastering was done by Djasman Hussain of Djasmaniac Productions. The song also features guest vocals by Burhan’s wife, Nurashikin Mohamed Sharif. The song was initially for a release on Andreas’ first birthday but work and other commitment delayed the production process. Urbankarma plans to release this single via online sometimes in April 2006.

Apart from rocking the place, get up close with the media and of course answer questions, they have an important announcement. 2006 is the year where they will say goodbye. The band will hopefully stage a farewell show in late December this year.

One of the few bands that challenge the normal conventions and not afraid in expressing their thoughts into words, Love 'em or hate 'em the music scene will indeed be losing a bunch of true rock soldiers.

What a joke man!!!!! wake up people...it is not like they have done something extraordinary or what.....lame excuses to be in the lime light again..come on....i guess this band had major contacts in the media world here to get such attention nit by their album sales, gigs or touring or other stuff that REAL bands do. i find this stuff a joke man....

Soldier is to be taken to mean in the metaphorical sense (not in the NS sense) but sumhow many people missed the point. DUH~

UK has cut several albums and has achieved much much more than many other local bands. *RESPECT*

And kash deriding them for their contacts with the media? I'd say this is better than bands with no contacts at all. In the big DOG eat DOG world out there, its all about networking, to make a difference.

Last but not least, there is no affliation between Four Tones Music and UK, other than the fact that Four Tones's owner is UK's lead guitarist.

Peace.

Much Much more???? what have they done so great that has given other local bands or the scene any benefit...have thye played overseas to let the world know the singapore music scene???

I think u must be good friend of theirs and defending them based on this is a ridule...grow up. They can never match what Impiety has done for the local music scene...ANd if having the right contacts is what can make a band BIG then i think the scene here is just crap..UK does not recieve my respect at all..........

EH?????

LOL

Well I'm sure they have certainly done much more than you. If the music scene here sucks, then go to Siberia dude ;) To each his own. You dont respect them, so be it. Who cares? But why get all heated up? What they wanna do, its up to them la.

They dont need your respect, neither do they owe you a living. And if you think Impiety is the greatest (aha u must be one of their frens eh?_ and done so much more than UK, then thats your perogative. But whats the relevance? Who is debating about who is better or what? So who is the one talking with ridicule here?

I am neither a fan or associated with UK. I have to say something when lifeforms like you put people down just like that. Same like you did with HeartRock. Soft is not the forum for that. There are many other forums out there for the likes of you.

Kash, just one question. What has UK done to you that makes u feel offended by their lime light? I know this is a forum for people to express their opinions, but in a thread like this, it is an opportunity for the band to show themselves on what they have achieved and hopefully to gain more support from our locals. Not just UK but if other bands do it too, i am sure they will greatly appreciate your support than to put them down and compare them to a pioneer band like Impiety. I find it very unfair. This might result in a conflict between these two bands if there is any misunderstanding. Now, i hope you would not drag on further to create any misunderstandings. Appreciate good music. And if u dont like it?F off! It is as simple as that.

And as for UK...Hailz!!\m/ Trash the world soldiers!(damn thats corny but yea...hahaha)

i watched UK at gigs before, they are a tight band in what they do. thats hardwork, not hype - respects \m/

I am not dragging any band into a conflict with other bands..i am just stating the truth and if u cant handle it then post in other topics and don con yourself here. u already know what is happening here. So they are supposed to showcase their achievements here?? so that is what i was asking in the first place..what achievements???
