singapore oil spill

Singapore waters have always been disgusting to swim in from the start (besides Sentosa, which is still bearable water).

but this makes it even worse.

training in waters with oil spills have turned a lot of my shirt black with stains before.

Woah this happened at 6am, The Chief Mate's watch, he was probably busy with paper work but the TSS isn't a good place for the OOW to be on the computer really.

Basket... maybe if they'd start building bulk carriers and oil tankers a little smaller, they'd be more maneuverable and less likely to get into accidents. One accident is already enough to destroy the eco-system of a large section of ocean.

Wait, is there even much of an eco-system around Singapore oceans these days?

You'll be surprised how maneuverable a bulkie or tanker is actually, with bow and stern thrusters. You can even spin her 360 degrees on a pivot point with the newer ships. Small ships are not economical, the exxon valdez still runs after her major oil spill. It's all about money and pleasing the charterer.
