No this aint a backing track. Haha. Its an instrumental original of ours with that psychedelic feel. I hadnt had time to redo my solo cus some parts are outta time since I recorded before my drummer did. Glad you like it man. Yeh i like U2. But i love deep purple. haha

It is just personal preference, I tot the piece has lots of spaces to fill in some lead lines.
