Should I change pickups or just buy a new bass?

I've currently got a Squire Standard Jazz Bass. The neck is starting to warp as i was told by the guitar tech the last time i went for a servicing.

I was wondering if i should change the pickups as the stock ones do not sound very great or just save up for a Yamaha BB414?

Changing the pickups wouldnt prevent the neck from warping further.

If the neck is warping just change... Or dehumidify and adjust truss rod. Change pickups if you wnat to but be sure of what pickups you wanna change to.

BB415 also not bad. I suggest you invest in another bass.

You should only change the pickups if you like the feel of the bass and in good condition.

If you like Jazz bass, SX with modified pickups is quite nice and affordable.

Wait for a good 2nd hand bass in the classified section.

There are many possible reasons why your bass doesn't sound great, the warped neck and possibly dead strings can impact the sound more than the pick-ups. How are the harmonics and sustain of your bass? Try to isolate what is wrong with your sound before deciding it is the pick-ups.

I hope your guitar tech had adjusted your neck instead of just telling you its warped. Hopefully its not beyond repair.
