Most people would recommend flight cases. Just make sure of two things,
1) cases should be sturdy enough not to break
2) inside, drums should be heavily padded

Also, you can look into removing the hardware (lugs, rims, etc.) and stacking the shells inside each other to save space. I've heard that's a good way to go about doing it, so long as you pad everything adequately.

Good luck with it, most people wouldn't bother to move their drums from one country to another! It's easier to just sell and buy a new one a lot of the time, and bring along only your snare, cymbals...
