Shaving my guitar neck

Hey guys,

I need some advice. I have ridiculously small hands and I like to play thumb over chords (Hendrix style), so it's really quite difficult with my baseball bat Les Paul neck. I know a lot of you will say it's just a matter of practice to overcome the thumb-over problem, but believe me when I tell you that I've tried. I actually even bought a new guitar with a way thinner neck because of this, and it was easier to play with, but I felt much better playing with my LP (like a first love kinda thing). I love everything else about my guitar and wouldn't trade it for the world, so I was wondering if I should shave my guitar to a more fitting profile for my playing style.

What I want to know is,

1. Would it affect the tone and structural integrity of my guitar? If so, how?
2. Has any of you ever done it? If so, please share your experience.
3. And also, if I were to do it, who should I go to? (I usually go to Beez for my guitar, but he informed me he doesn't do neck shaving)

I assume if you're going to shave off wood from the neck, of course its going to affect how the vibration flows etc because there is lesser wood.

I never heard of anyone shaving their guitar necks

You probably can approach 1. Guitar connection, 2. Guitar workshop, 3. Luther music

With that being said, just go and buy a new guitar. There are leapauls with very thin necks. Do some research online. Or just find an alternative way of playing your chords.
