Hi im currently using an epiphone sg g400 guitar that comes with the half sg pickup.

I wanna ask whether is it possible to buy a new FULL pickguard and drill the extra holes to replace the half one?

Please tell me why is ur answer so and if yes, where to i buy and where should i go to get the job done and how much is it. And what are your comments on this as well.

Thanks!

DIY. Simple. It's not exactly rocket science...
But if you want to send it to a shop, Guitar Connection.
But imo, don't waste your money. Unless you want it so bad yeah.

only full sized pickguards u can find are 3rd party / custom made ones.
so better u source locally for someone to custom make one for u, at least then u know it will fit properly.
also with the full guard, u will need to put a piece of foam under the neck pickup to maintain the right angle to the strings.

in the first place tho, why didnt u buy the 1966 G-400?

thanks for ur info. i wanted to but 2 years ago they told me they din have it.

im not dying to fit the full sized 1 though. i just thought it would be sweet if i could change it.

i did my research and found out not only that the full sized one require more screws, but some of the original positions of the screws are different too.

i dont quite understand about the foam under the neck pickup part u were saying do u mind elaborating?

currently, both my pickups can "rock back and fourth" and i dont think its suppose to be like that right? any idea what's the case?

it would be great if u know who or which shop does this and maybe the price of the pickup itself and servicing too.

the foam under the neck pickup is so that it would be parallel with the strings.
since there is no pickup ring to help maintain that line, u would need to place foam under it.

rocking back and forth is normal, but it will rock more on a full sized guard...thats where the foam will also help.

and that is why u need to custom make one locally, not buy a 3rd party or custom one from ebay.
and of cos it will have more screws, since its twice as big :P

cool thanks.

any idea where can i custom make it LOCALLY? i dont know who to find or where to start.

custom made is the only way to go unless you can get a direct replacement(all holes fits in, pickups, bridge,) aligment etc. etc.. i know cos ive bought a all parts full pickguard and had to enlarge the holes to fit in..

custom made you can try guitar workshop, they do made custom pickguards, not cheap though, ask them for a quote.
