Schecter Guitars

Hi guys,

Recently I came to notice that Schecter guitars are cheap considering the stuff that you get.

I was checking out Solo-6 Custom model and it comes with Locking Tuners, Seymour Duncan pick ups, coil tap, etc. The price for this model selling at Davis Guitar is cheaper than PRS SE models. Both are made in Korea but PRS SE models don't come with locking tuners and seymour duncan pick ups. So why more expensive?

I just want to know because I am looking to buy a new axe. Schecter seems attractive now but I am worried its bad sides does not suit my playing at all.

What ARE it's bad sides to you?
As far as i know, Schecter is mostly for high gain killer stuff. Metal, hardcore rock, etc.
Well, there was one story on the forum that Schecter lied about its products (the one about the 7-string maple veneer or something, anyone else remembers?).
Schecter has pretty thin necks, and a lot a lot of gloss. I don't like gloss.

external features are not the final determination of price, there are other considerations to factor in. wood grade, which is often the unseen factor here, is one such aspect. also, the 'PRS' tag there would mark the price bracket. the SE models are made in Korea's World Music Factory, one of the best production line in Korea- the reason why Ibanez chose them to manufacture selected Prestige models not too long ago (current Prestige models are all made in Japan).

Schecter is a reputable brand, so you have no worries there. All it depends on is whether you like the guitars. I personally don't. Too much gloss on the necks.

Also, it depends on the model. One of Schecter's models might not suit you, but another Schecter model might be perfect. So as far as the brand goes, you have little to worry about. All it boils down to is whether the brand offers what you are looking for in a guitar.

Schecter never lied. They only said the Damien Elite 8 came with quilted maple top, without being specific on whether it was a veneer or a slab. If they had advertised specifically in the product literature that it was slab top, but turns out to be veneer, now that's lying.

@dodgethis: Well i don't know too much, it's not my guitar, neither do i have a liking for schecters. You should hold a discussion with Shredcow...

hey guys....thanks for the inputs. i was told that schecter necks are not so comfortable to shred because they are big. but then again i'm seeing synyster gates shredding on his axe.

i guess i should really try them out before any statement/decision is made.

shredability is about adaptibility, regardless of the neck profile. Loomis can shred a Schecter, even with an extra string in there...
