Craftman's are good but their construction is the only problem. Gotta be real gentle and smooth with it. 
You can zoom in on OLP's as well. Though no more in production now, you might want to try your luck in the buy/sell column. They're pretty good for beginners, esp the John Petrucci model! ahaha.. i like!

I would say go for Samick Greg Bennett. It is because of their build and QC which is quite good. They have Duncan Designed pickups on it, which is quite good. Some of their models are equipped with Grover tuners for better tuning stability. The price is around $200+ to $300+ which is reasonable.
On the other hand, Craftsman guitars are decent and cheap. The only problems are their stock pickups (in my opinion) which is not very good. I've owned before and the sound produced is kinda thin and "dry".
Ultimately, it is your choice. Go down to the shop and try it out.

Agree totally with Edyeo123. Grover tuning pegs are definitely a plus point that makes the Greg Bennett more worth the money than Craftsman, in my opinion.

I actually owned a few pieces..Cobra,FastBack & Malibu!! Love it so much as you guys mentioned above the Groove Tuner-wonderful & yes Duncun Designed Pickup serve well!! Surprising even the stock pickup oso fantastic!
why I start this thread is for 2 reason:
1) wanna know bout the Craftman's
2) usually grab mine fr Davis Guitar but it's limited & I can't even get those model like Ultimate..so where else c'ld I shop for?
At last, how much is the artist series bro?!
