samick bass truss rod

I've got a new $225 Samick bass, trying to increase the bow on the neck.

Problems:
- the nut refuses to move either direction.

Questions:
- anti-clockwise is loosen right?
- isn't the nut supposed to move pretty easily?

Anyone tried adjusting the truss rod on a Samick bass, have any advice?

edit: all i had to do was loosen the strings some more when trying to turn the nut. problem solved.
