Sabian, what to get.

Hi all softies.
I'm thinking about taking a long term plan of changing all my cymbals to sabians.

I play metal. and i'm not sure on what to get.
I'm thinking stuff within the AA-HHX range.
What would be good crashes/hi-hats/ride/chinas?

If you're into Sabian, for metal, the best is the AA or AAX series. It's bright and loud, cut thru all those crunch guitar sound.. well, that's my opinion..

aax all the way for me haha... well for metal, good cutting ones would be aa metal-x (the name?) crash and my personal favourite for LOUD aaxplosion crash

for darker sounds, i would go for burning dark hhxtreme crashes
hats i would say aax stage hats, cuts tru so well, hav a pair and actually feel guilty playing it at home

for ride an either aa or hh raw bell dry ride would do the job or a hh rockride like i use which has extremely good stick definition

chinas im not too familiar but aaxtreme chinas and hhx chinas have always caught my eye for their agressiveness... but if u can get ur hand on (almost impossible) try a 19" paragon china

Nysk, are those very loud? right now I'm only using entry level paistes, and they're already quite loud... is the AAXplosion crash really VERY LOUD? cos i'm playing at home, and i wouldn't want to kill the neighbours.

Second question, if i had a sound constraint. what would be good to buy, from any other series of sabian?

hmm thats tough... u wanna play metal at home.... well.... yes the aaxplosion is indeed very loud, definitely louder than those paistes... so yea not wise to use it at home

for sound constraints u might wnana try sabian sound control crashes? chekc out www.sabian.com for them... but doubt sweelee has any in stock... well if u want less projection then i guess you have to go for smaller sized or thinner cymbals to play at home then, and darker sounding ones too like the hand hammered series... but dont expect them to do u good when ur jamming to a heavy metal song in the studio or during gigs

I see, so if i'm just jamming at home, paistes would do fine?
are the b8's any good, i've got mixed reviews for those? some say they're only as good as entry level paiste but they cost more, or that they are great cymbals.
do you have an insight?

Hey, why not consider Sabian XS20 series. Its one of the best entry/budget series cymbals out there and uses B20 alloy. Definitely a step-up from B8 wif attractive pricing too.

yea blissuicide is right... xs20's really value for money... had a friend who used them and they sound quite spectacular indeed and are not that LOUD... but yea actually just for home practice ur paistes should do fine

b8's arent too bad either but i wudnt consider them for a long time investment... they look like they could crack any moment... but IMO nth wrong with their sound

I see, so its to Xs20's or paiste entry level cymbals.
For paiste, which entry level level cymbals are "okay".
I keep getting scummed for using 101's and 201's.
IMO, the 201's are okay. i don't see why people always play me down for using them.

Comparing 101 and 201 to XS, i'd definitely say the XS of cos. Eh, seriously the XS20 hats jus blow most other entry-level hats man. For Paiste, the only decent entry-level series tat i can say is the PST5...

Watever it is, do check out the PST5 and watever other recommendations personally though bro, cos theres some people tat are not really into tis series or tat series and so and so, therefore opinions mite vary...

Get a good mixture of brightness and tones.

My Fav for crash/riding is the 18" HHXtreme Crash.

My main crash is an 18" AAXplosion/AA Metal X crash (depending on the music dat I'm playing or the gigging venue. These 2 crashes IMO are suitable for loud songs.

My secondary crash is a lovely 17" HHxplosion to compliment the brightness of the aax and the AA Metal X. Shimmering explosions with dark tones.
