Ronin's in today's papers! Life! and Today both have seperate interviews that cover different aspects of the band. Check out the Today one especially. XD

"People should lighten up and enjoy themselves. Go out, have fun and stop over analysing. It's rock 'n' roll, not a rocket science.

"If we wanted to write a song about the subliminal landscapes of our subconscious minds, we would have done it. But hell, we don't want to." ... it's rock; so enjoy it without over analysing, says Ronin's lead singer.

I'll bet you that's a reference to The Observatory's recent performance. Ahahaha.

Yea Ronin! :smt041

The media is recognising them better now. Maybe soon we can expect to see their band members as guests on TV shows like that Electrico guy in "table for 3".

the difference between observatory and ronin is that one play music that surpassed the boundary of genre and the other play something which had been around and sound nothing special, especially for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s.... sad but true

the observatory is good for what they are, but ultimately I don't see myself having much fun watching their performances. I only do in-depth pondering every so often.

another reason why I like ronin more is because of their stage prescence as performers. few local bands have this.

want stage presence and quality?

b-quartet.

younger than ronin, but they've got everything that makes them friggin power.

and at least they don't sound typically generic throughout their EP.

B Quartet is bloody brilliant. :D And any local band that has sincerity in their music has my support.

yup, b-quartet is very, very good. nice and humble guys too. heard the bassist trying to nail primus' 'jerry was a race car driver'. and he was that close! going to support them and get their e.p. soon.

saw ronin performed at youth park some time back while passing the place. the singer and guitarists were all over the stage, not bad though...

Have to agree with you on that bro..RONIN should start looking at the songs they are composing as there is nothing special or uniquely Singapore about it..they might make it big here but i don think they can do it overseas......don know what happened to Electrico though....?????
they flooded the market with their name and songs by doing their gigs and air-play in the radio till it pissed people off now...

hey ho let`s go!!!!!!!

FIREBRANDS demo was played at Wu-Bar last weekend.......how come nobody`s talking abt it?!?!?!?!??!

ahakz......kelvin..dun b angry ah........

Yep. Electrico's working on their 2nd album! Some of their songs are pretty funky and I think they're gonna sound a little more different in the 2nd album. Don't ask me why. Lol. They played some new singles at baybeats and other gigs. I think they're still just as awesome.

As for the

I don't get what you mean actually. =\ They don't sound Singaporean so they can't make it big elsewhere? So the 'logic' here is that you gotta sound like Singaporeans in order to be successful elsewhere? =)

Well, honestly, I just think no one band could ever please everyone. I totally dig Ronin's music and to me, they're unique in the local scene but yeah, some people may think otherwise. You just gotta find the connection with the music I guess. It's either there, or it isn't. For me, I found that 'special thing' in Ronin's music style but BQuartet doesn't do that much for me. I know BQuartet's awesome and all but it's just a personal taste thingy, you know what I mean?

So yeah, I totally believe Ronin would continue making it big. They're unique in their own ways. And as long as they are still able to please people who appreciate their music, all's fine with me. I believe every band has their own supporters and haters. So yeah, Ronin's still the God of Rock and Roll to me!

Sorry if I sound like I'm rambling on and on. My brain isn't exactly functioning well right now. Haha

sometimes making it big is not as impt as making music.
Exactly. So back to square One, Ronin's awesome for their music. Period. Let's not bring the media into this. =)

Yes! Instead of saying what can be done, what should be done, what shouldn't be done, we should all get off our asses and just DO IT.

Everyone can give opinions. Not everyone can make a change. So, a little respect to those who've made a difference to the local music scene.

Cheers =)
