i guess the "half naked women" line was just to entice us to watch it. :D haha. but still, pretty cool first music video! favourite parts was where the band was playing in the room. eh, no. there IS a half naked womAn.

welcome to another episode of Madmonkeykungfu, where we are going to voice out real opinions the carebears do not dare to say. We criticise because we want to improve.

The video, in all honesty is cheesy and lame as hell. I'm sure the members of Ronin know it themselves. It certainly looks cheap. I reckon that a live performance video edit would be tons better than this.

The half naked Levan scene is quite ok initially, as his skin color is a nice contrast against the backdrop, but it gets real boring and predictable after awhile.

I don't know but the jamming scene looks like its in a jamming center. Looks cheap. No offense.

On a side note, it is still a slight improvement over the crappier videos that pugjelly and electrico had. Lets not even mention about the Rudra disaster.

I like how Love Me Butch (malaysia) had done with their music video. Looks real nice and cool if you can forgive the off-syncness of it.

it's light years better than Taufik's "I dream" video. haha 8) was that a disaster on tv or what.
and various other local bands already.

mtv sucks it lags so bad.

the video i think was okay. nothing special, not very professionally done i must say. couldve done with more energy.

and yea btw hollywood holiday was good, ive been seeing it quite a lot.

That's cool. *respect*

Because it would be cheap- how much budget do you think they had? I doubt it would have even been $25k.

You have to try, and fall, before you fly. If you stick to what's safe, you'll never progress.

I don't think a half naked levan wee is meant to be interesting =P A minute ago you said you'd have prefered a live performance edit, now you want something upredictable?

I don't know but the jamming scene looks like its in a jamming center. Looks cheap. No offense.

It probably is, and is probably meant to be. Looks honest. Come on, if they had pretended to be playing in front of a a 200,000 crowd, you'd accuse them of being posers. If they be themselves, you'd accuse them of being cheap. =P

On a side note, it is still a slight improvement over the crappier videos that pugjelly and electrico had. Lets not even mention about the Rudra disaster.

I sense you must have some awesome ideas, means and skills to produce good videos with our present budget ranges and bands. Please, please help our local scene and share your talents!

Okay.

A live performance edit would more represent the band as they are compared to the big cheese that I've seen.

Oh and how less predictable could the music video be compared to a live performance edit? By saying Levan was predictable I meant he kept going on about the same template actions/reactions.

Just because you are on a very tight budget doesnt mean you have to look like your budget.

Oh yeah, and another thing, you don't have to be a film director in order to criticise one. One recognises shit when he smells one. Its natural instinct.

Who are we to judge what the band is and how they should be represented? It's up to the band themselves to represent themselves as they choose fit. Besides, you can always save the live performance edits for the live videos. Black Maria sounds so much more awesome live, with the more upbeat pace and throbbing bass and crowd interaction. =P Who's to say Ronin won't consider doing a live album between their present one and the next?

I agree, it would have been cooler if it were arranged around some event like maybe an orgy (or a single girl, thinking about budget xD) or him getting ready for a gig, but hey, it still works.

Just because you are on a very tight budget doesnt mean you have to look like your budget.

So what does their budget look like to you?

Anybody can find fault with something; what use is that? Simon Cowell's methods work because there are millions and millions of people who try. Our scene is too tiny for that- if you crush the few who follow their dreams because they're not up to your expectations, you crush the rest before they even dare to dream.

Basically, how is dissing a local music video going to aid anything? We can all find faults with them if we choose to; but whatever for? If you don't like it, don't listen to it or watch it. 8)

wow cool, they're finally on MTV! although i must say it isnt very unique or interesting(um levan acting like a woman? lol), Im really very very happy for them to be able to go this far man, hope they get regional success!! :D

those flashy american music videos you see cost at least 1 million US dollars

Coldplay's stupid beach video of Chris Martin walking the beach in YELLOW cost u know how much? $500,000. just like that, walking down a beach. and it looks cheap as well. it ranks as one of the cheapest.

so unless you can pay local bands a nice fat budget..... :)

oh yeah, parking lot pimp's 'blow' video was ..bad :)

and i do love the love me butch video

hey you're a nice guy but that was a pretty cool video man. =P they had speed it up then do it in slo-mo and all sorts of shit. the scientist was better.

hopefully ronin will progress in terms of ideas and expression- this is, after all, their first video!

look at the most awesome music videos out there and find the first videos the bands ever released, they wouldn't be that incredible. after all, it's a new environment, a new experience, etc.

again, it's easy to criticize. ;)
