Hi ALL,

Just drop by SWEE LEE Bras Brasah today
to check out some 2/3 tier stand.

At the same time, check out Roland synths
WOW!!!??? V-synth, Fantom and RD series
all at least $3000 and above !!!

V-synth: around $5000++
Fantom 88: $7000++
RD series digital piano: $4000++

Wau Lau eh ah?! How to afford ???
err.. only one can buy - JunoD: $1500++

no wonder only Yamaha and Korg synths are making waves...

any comments ???

Is that the price tag on the keyboard or the price they quoted you? You know how they always put a higher price tag and then give a "20% discount".

even with their standard 20% "discount", it's overpriced. u can get cheaper from the US. i personally don't think roland is charging so much for the keyboards. usually we can expect their prices to be comparable to korg. i think it's just swee lee.

Juno-D CANNOT buy. This is a travesty to the good name of the Juno Series (the Juno 1 & 2 sounded decent even though they were analog-digital hybrids). But this is a ROMpler ... I wouldn't have made noise if they used another model number eg RS 90 mk ii (which is what it really is)

Anyway, it is not right to say that only Yamaha and Korg synths are making waves. Roland still makes very good stuff and is in fact my favourite Japanese synth company (with Korg no 2 and Yamaha last).

Music Plaza prices are generally higher than Swee Lee and usually what you see is what you get. They are very stingy with discounts if they give one at all.

Shipping can be expensive if you are ordering a workstation but something like the SH-32 is much more viable.

The other problem with ordering from US is the power supply. You'll need a step down transformer as not all Roland equipment come with a universal power supply.

However, the US version of the Fantom may come with a universal power supply (listed as AC 117V, 230V & 240V in the tech specifications in the manual ). Pleases confirm with your vendor before ordering.

price tag

halo ALL,

i referring to the price tag on display:

RD 170 88key digital piano - $ 3250
Fantom-S - $5300
Fantom s88 - $6975
Fantom x7 - $7000
V-synth - $5000

they cost an arm and a leg?!

so what will be after 20% off ???

errr.... the only thing can get are the keyboard accessories ?!
actually was there to look for 2/3 tier stand

Just happened to drop by Swee Lee today. The display of keyboards is a nice change. What actually caught my eye was the GEM GRP300 digital piano that looked like a baby grand. Too bad my son was around and I couldn't hang around for too long playing around with it. But initial impression: was great hammer action, one of the better ones I've tried. Felt like the real thing - finally. Sound-wise - not too impressive. Too loud and boomy on the lower registers. They didn't have more info for me then - which is a great pity. I found out from their website that the pedal is able to detect 16 different levels. So far, I know only of GigaStudio that can do half-pedalling. Now GEM can do that too. If I had known about it, I would have tried out more on the pedals. But then, it probably didn't make much difference since I didn't detect any significant changes when I was playing around. Still, it feels good. Dick Lee is supposed to have played on it - don't know why they made it such a big deal about it. I've got the impression they wanted me to go "wow"; my reaction must have poured some cold water since I said I don't fancy getting a piano that's been played around too much and "second-hand"...

anyone knoe where i can get keyboard racks in singapore? Swee Lee doesn't have it, city music either, luther neither... sigh.... don't ANYONE ELSE carry racks?

The other thing that came to mind is that you could try shopping in Japan.
Not sure of the prices there so maybe the others can advise.

Getting a Japanese manual is not a problem now, since you could download the english verison from www.rolandus.com

Japanese use 110V though.

Normally Swee Lee mock up the price and say 40% off from displayed price..This is their style for selling Roland stuff. I have bought many gears from them.. :D

How ever, It's better to buy Modules from Roland rather than Keyboards as the sequencer (If you are sequencing on keyboard) is not so tight and user friendly like Korg..

Check out Citymusic Sale..I bought my Triton Extreme...
Also Yamaha selling Motif ES6 below S$3k... 8O

Hi, seems like your question is not answer for a month,
I've found out about this Ikea bedside table which
can be use as a modules rack, it's 19" and 10U.
Fits well and good. I bought one, maybe another.

Music plaza selling Gator, QuikLok and SKB rack cases, you can check them out.

Hi LowJK,

Happy Lunar New Year to you!

Since your mentioning of a step down transformer a few weeks ago,
I'm wondering what should I do with my newly imported used Korg Wavestation SR with a AC 117V power intake?

All I need to do is to buy a step-down transformer to cater for this guy?

Pls kindly advise. Thank you.

Rdgs,
John
