it goes really well with a ds-1 in my opinion.. always chose that over the laneys in bmc..

heh the laneys are good but when ODed always lack definition... can't cut thru the band one

Jeremy,

Is this survey for the refurbished EA studio?

no la, i've played a couple of times at e studio, they got a peavey and a small marshall from wad i remember

anw this is just for the fun of it, coz mi band members all can guess the look on my face when i step into a studio to jam and see that amp... 8) 8)

i juz can't drive the amp enough with its built in distortion, and when i use mi old gfx1 or a ds1 or sd1 pedal, there is shitloads of feedback, the sound is very trebly and lacks bass response, BUT i like the built in chorus and tremolo

but i'd prefer to stay away from this amp, but can't coz imo it's the most common studio amp around, and the last 2 gigs i playes i ended up using this amp

I kinda like the Roland amps too  Personally, it goes very well with my Strat or Flying V...yeah, my liking more towards the bright kinda sound and its crispiness is what I like about it...(and sometimes I use the on-board chorus/vibrato effect :P)

On the other hand, I can't seem to get much definition with the Laney amps...oh, you guys know there was once Sam put a Randall 2x12 amp (I think) in one of rooms...but he sold it off soon after cos not many people like/know how to use it cos some of the people don't know how to utilise the equalizer *lol*

i have a jc, and i would say its a very good amp, clean is nice and using external distortion is pretty good also.

that randalls are now in serangoon bmc outlet.. :D

yar i prefer the randall stacks and combos to the jc anytime, probrably juz me, every1 else in this forum seems for the amp, so i tink i better tone down if not i get blasted, haha

Yeah yeah..... it's juz youz manz!!!

The Jazz Chorus is a ledgendary amp, its whether you know how to use it only. These seems everywhere bcuz they are prefered by the major jam studios, namely BMC & SC.

I don't mind owning a few myself if got good offers on these used.

Heh...yup, I've seen them being used almost everywhere...from those Taiwan concerts, Jacky Wu variety shows to Japan's Music Station programme :P

Among all the SS amps that r found in studios ard SG, the Jazz Chorus really works well with my current "setup"... It has ballz and chunk and can really cut through the band when doing leads.. The headroom is great too... Totally love it~

How about using a distorion pedal like the Tonebone Hot British in front of the amp (if ur planning to warm up the sound and firm up the bottom)?
