hey Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi was blowing into something beside his mike for the song it's my life.. anyone know what's that and how it works? heard that its associated with the guitar and amp.. quite complicated stuff?

heh.. paiseh i dont know

:p

Its a talk box. made famous by Peter Frampton. The basic concept is to channel the guitar's sound through a rubber tube and into your mouth. The sound is shaped by the cavity of your mouth and amplified by the microphone. So it gives a very human voice-like characteristic to the guitar's sound. There's no need for blowing or whatsoever. You just need to move your mouth.

You can virtually make the guitar talk and pronounce words as what you would do with your mouth.

You can build one yourself by getting a horn driver and install it over the speaker of a small amplifier, which then can be connected to a tube.

Here's how:

cool but tiring. and unhygenic. and hard to control volume.

i think most people still prefer wahs. easier.

Jim Dunlop Talkbox i think. Price is quite steep, if my memory does not fail it's about 400 plus.
