hi guys,
would you rather
1.) purely get a rg1570

or

2.) get a rg370dx/rg470 and stick in a dimarzio with the remaining cash?

Anyway, which is the better one? 370dx or 470?

p.s: I did a search on the forums n the net already but couldnt get my Qs answed. So pls dont flame me if my questions sound silly! Thanks.

if i'm not wrong the rg1570 is a prestige whereas the rg370dx/470 is not, to me this sets the rg1570 apart... prestige is japan made while the normal ones are from korea, of coz the country of origin doesnt matter that greatly as long as the guitars are well made, but imo there must be a reason for the prestige tag.. oh and you also get the prestige hard case i think, not sure on this..

edge III bridge for rg370dx/470 vs the edge pro for rg1570

you dunt have to swap the pups straightaway, juz explore the various possibilities and push the pups abit first.. you might actualli find something you like =)

The neck for Prestige is significantly better. But Ibanez has some pretty amazing non-Japan guitars that unless you are paying a great deal, 2XXX or 3XXX or J-Custom, sometimes the difference is not really worth the difference.

Same here.
Shredcow, why do you spell is as 'Prestiege'? Isn't it just 'Prestige', Ibanez.com spells it that way.

The prestiege definately. Better quality overall. Pups can always come later.

The neck man. It's the neck. The difference in the feel of the neck on a prestige is pretty damned obvious as compared to the non-prestige instruments.

Just wait for the sale and grab the RG2620, which pwnzed the 1570 and 470. Not to mention mahogany body somemore....

the current RG2620, is not mahogany. WEF 2005, the 2620 models are basswood. how do you identify a 2005 model?

1. Cube design finish
2. J-Craft label @ rear of headstock

470 uses lo trs ... I don't like that trem ..

the current RG470 you see hanging on the racks @ Bras Basah showroom are pre-2003 models, hence the TRS vibrato.

the 470 models are discontinued WEF 2004.

Hi Cheryl 8)

if you believe in a pickup swap & intend to get the RG1570, you might do well to replace those default pickups too, unless you grab the RG2570, which sports a pair of Dimarzio IBZ pickups. however, these pickups do not manifest immaculate Dimarzio tones in whole.

the current RG350/ 370/ 320 Korean models are very good guitars to own. WEF 2003, Ibanez's Korean models have seen improvements in crafsmanship, i own several models & will vouch for their good overall performance.

i'm checking out some Ibanez models @ the Bras Basah showroom as soon as i'm back in S'pore (before Saturday 17 Dec, definitely). if you'd like me to give an on-the spot appraisal, i'd be glad to meet you/ any SOFTies here for that matter. just PM me & i'll get back to you ASAP :smt039

Cheryl,

You plan to get a 1570 too? Me too! Shucks, I hope that SL has more than one.
